It can be very difficult to parent a child who bosses you around or tells you what to do. There seem to be more and more children behaving this way these days and the worst thing we can do as moms and dads is to mistake these children as being confident or strong-willed. In fact, these children are usually more sensitive and their behavior stems from insecurity, not security.

In this two-hour online class, we will explore the "Alpha Child" complex through the lens of attachment and development with a special emphasis on understanding how this dynamic occurs and what we can do about it. We will cover 16 strategies for helping our children feel more secure and lessening bossy/alpha behavior.

Topics include:

  • How Alpha children develop
  • The roots of the "bully" syndrome
  • The critical role of attachment
  • How to assume the Alpha position as a parent
  • and more!

This class will be conducted online through our cutting-edge, easy-to-use system. You will be able to hear and see the speaker live, watch a slide presentation, and type in questions. You don't need any special technical knowledge or software, just a high speed internet connection and a web browser. Participants with a webcam and/or microphones may even be able to ask their questions on-screen.

This presentation is based on the work of internationally renowned development psychologist and author Dr. Gordon Neufeld ("Hold On to Your Kids") and will be taught by one of his most trusted students. Todd Sarner, MA, is a Parent Consultant and Educator who is also Co-Director of Transformative Parenting in Marin County, California.
